HIGH-QUALITY THIN BRICKS MADE IN GERMANY

As a company based in the Kannenbäckerland, one of Europe's most renowned ceramic centers, we produce high-quality thin bricks made from the finest Westerwald clays. Our thin bricks, flat brick slips in the formats 240 x 71 mm (Normal format NF), 240 x 52 mm (Thin format DF), 290 x 52 mm (Long thin format LDF), 360 x 52 mm, and 468 x 40 mm (Long format LF40), allow for uniform facade cladding. These represent the most common formats, ensuring an aesthetically pleasing and clear facade effect. On request, various custom formats are also available.

MODERN EXTRUSION PROCESS

We manufacture our thin bricks from fired clay using the extrusion process. The continuous pressing of the raw material and the precise cutting of the blanks result in a product with high dimensional accuracy and a structured surface. Thanks to our digital printing process, we can also create custom colors, exclusive glazes, and fine surface effects—ideal for architects and planners who rely on creative design.

PRECISE COMPLIANCE WITH STANDARDS & CLEAR EFFECT ON THE FACADES

Our thin bricks are strictly manufactured according to the standards DIN 18515-1 and DIN EN 14411, guaranteeing strength and quality. Depending on the selected format and pattern, Tonwerk thin bricks provide a vibrant yet clear appearance on the facade—perfectly suited for new buildings, renovations, and even for use indoors as an elegant alternative to wallpaper and conventional wall coverings. Tonwerk thin bricks, with water absorption well below 3%, are compatible with all external thermal insulation composite systems (ETICS).

EFFICIENCY IN CONSTRUCTION LOGISTICS

An outstanding advantage of our production process is the delivery of thin bricks in individually color-mixed form. This eliminates the need for labor-intensive sorting on-site, saving time, preventing breakage, and ultimately lowering construction costs. The shortened installation process optimizes workflows and ensures efficient project management.

SUSTAINABILITY AND DURABILITY

Sustainability is the focus at TONWERK: The clay, a regional natural material, is mined and processed in Germany. Short delivery routes, resource-efficient production, and the extremely long service life of our thin bricks—often lasting throughout the entire lifespan of a building—significantly improve the CO2 balance, making our products an environmentally friendly choice.
